Erasmus
Our second Erasmus Mobility took place in February 2025 and brought us to Finland. Our visit to Kuusankoski Lukio, a senior high school in the city of Kouvola, in Southeast Finland, as part of an Erasmus+ program, was a truly memorable experience for everyone involved. From the collaborative project work (focusing on topics ranging from ecology and student wellbeing) with our Finnish counterparts, to partaking in day-to-day school life, we witnessed first-hand how strongly wellbeing and creativity are woven into everyday school life. The trip gave us plenty to admire and learn from and the students embraced every moment — whether exploring snowy streets and sights of Helsinki, winter activities such as snow shoeing and ice hockey, to the traditional Finnish Sauna followed by the dreaded but truly invogorating ice plunge/snow roll, or engaging with Finnish teachers and students who were incredibly welcoming and generous of their time. It’s a trip we’ll all be talking about for a long time, friendships and memories that will last long and one that has left us inspired in our own work back home.

We completed our first Erasmus Mobility to Ostrava in the Czech Republic in February 2024. Neil Spellacy and Ross Conboy undertook a Student Mobility where ten students, six from Second Year and four from Fifth Year, attended Hello School in Ostrava for a week. Sarah Gleeson also undertook a week of Job Shadowing in the same school. The focus for the Mobility was on the use of Digital Technologies. All the students involved are studying Computer Science or Coding and were able to study VR, Robotics and Computer Coding with students from Ostrava.
