The Bish proved too strong for Oranmore in the first year 'B' final played in Pearse Stadium Monday 17th May 2009. Despite the fact that Oranmore had the ball in the net after thirty seconds playing with a strong breeze, the Bish responded with two Adrian Morrissey points. Cian Walsh also scored a rebound point off a good save from the Oranmore goalie. Ronan Elwood added to the Bish scoreline with a well taken point to leave the Bish marginally ahead by one point at half time. Enda Fallon set the tone from the restart following a beautiful pass from Eamonn Brannigan when he struck the back of the net. Points from Walsh and Morrissey extending their lead before Brannigan helped maintain the Bish dominance with a well taken goal. Michael Conneely and Aaron Broderick controlled the central positions in defence while wing backs Eoin Kennedy and David O'Sullivan played exceptional in their positions which was vital for the Bish at crucial times. Further scores by Brannigan and Walsh and an Aaron Tummon goal put the seal on the win. This was a very encouraging victory for the Bish boys which came after wins against New Inn, St. Raphael's College and St. Mary's College. Captain Morrissey collected the Cup on behalf of the team and spoke about how he hoped this would be the start of a successful period in Bish hurling.
Throughout the year other teams performed well, the Junior Hurling Team were eliminated on score difference despite beating St. Mary's (who went on to win the competition) in the group stages. The Juvenile team went through to the Juvenile 'C' Hurling final against Roscommon CBS. The senior team had a short season when they unfortunately lost to Oranmore and New Inn. Several Bish players played with the Galway City Schools Hurling panel which competed in the Senior Colleges 'A' Championship. Ronan Killilea, Eoghan O Connor, Sean Morrissey, Brian Highland and Diarmuid O'Connor were on the team that lost to Gort C.S. in the Connacht semi final. Gort went on the win the Connacht Final. E
