Bish vs St.Marys, Drom, March 25th, 2011

Connacht Semi Final                                        Bish vs St.Marys                                     Drom, March 25th, 2011

The Bish U-14 team, following their unbeaten streak in the competition so far, faced St. Mary’s College of Galway,in the Connacht Cup semi final in Drom. Both teams were well matched, and possession was even on both sides of the field, until after ten minutes, when
the Bish begun to show the upper hand, with shot after shot on the Mary’s goal.

A penalty was awarded after Joe Hynes was taken down inside the Mary’s box, after sprinting from the right wing towards goal. Cian Morley stepped up to the spot kick and buried it in the net. Mary’s tried several quick plays on the counter, with the hope of the equaliser, but were kept behind, thanks to the Bish defensive wall, with Bobby Keane in the backs and Michael Costello showing his strength at the centre of
the pitch.

Following the first half goal, the Bish had were playing a much stronger game, proven with two quick goals by Conor Melody and Josh Marvesley, after a new playing formation. Melody sealed the victory, finishing the match off with an impressive volley, only yards inside the half way line. It was another fantastic win to add to an undefeated streak where the superior Bish side shone once again.

Final Score:

Bish 4-0 St. Mary’s College

Scorers: Cian Morley (pen), Conor Melody (2), Josh Marvesley
